September 24th: World War I
It's Uncle Tony's Birthday today, we were on the road to Ypres so early this morning that Dad didn't have time to call him :-(
Ypres is part of the Flanders fields and during World War I approximately 800,000 soldiers died in the trench warfare that lasted 2 years. Dad and James took me to oneof trenches for a look, very cold and scary place. We also found the NZ Memorial just outside of Ypres, although we were lost for quite some time on our way there.
